SPIRO-GUARD MECHANICAL SEAL PROTECTION

The hydrodynamic element, SPIRO-GUARD, serves to protect the mechanical seal from impurities/solids that can accumulate on it and degrade it through abrasion. Its use is justified primarily in "heavy-duty" applications, where pumping media with a higher content of solid particles than usual occurs.

The principle of operation of the hydrodynamic element, SPIRO-GUARD, lies in transforming a certain portion of the velocity vectors of the rotating flow in the stuffing box of the pump into an axial direction. This enhances the reverse flow away from the mechanical seal, resulting in a continuous flow in the stuffing box that prevents solid particles from settling on the functional surfaces of the mechanical seal.
